We Are Your Neighbors: Shawn LaRue, Eddyville, Local 3289

ABOUT SHAWN:
My wife, Traci and I have two children, Adam (10) and Grant (6). My wife works at the elementary school in Eddyville, which both our children attend. We attend the United Methodist church in Eddyville, where my wife and I have served on various committees. I have served on our Little League board for the past five years and currently serve as the treasurer for the church we attend. Both boys enjoy playing baseball and basketball.

WHAT SHAWN DOES:
Stationed in the Ottumwa office, I supervise a caseload of approximately 800 misdemeanor offenders. A majority of those offenders have been convicted of Operating while Intoxicated, Possession of a Controlled Substance or offenses where restitution is owed to a victim. I monitor that offenders comply with their court ordered conditions, which include: reporting new offenses to the Court, substance abuse evaluation and treatment, drinking driver’s courses and payment of financial obligations to the Court and victims.

WHAT SHAWN'S JOB MEANS TO HIS FAMILY AND COMMUNITY:
The job I have allows me to provide for my family. We spend money locally and have the security of knowing that our family has adequate health insurance. Providing accountability that offenders are in compliance with court ordered conditions of probation, enhances public safety.
