We Are Your Neighbors: Robert Henderson, Waterloo, Local 3289
I have lived in Waterloo, Iowa my entire life. I went to Junior College in Mason City, and then graduated from the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls. Black Hawk County and the state of Iowa is a great place to live. I have strived in my personal life as well as professional life to contribute to helping Iowans work through their difficulties as they may arise, which ultimately helps all of us. As a member of our local NAACP chapter, the goal is to assist the disenfranchised and help make the community a better place to live for people of all races.
WHAT ROBERT DOES:
As an adult probation and parole officer, my job is to protect the public while also letting the clientele that I supervise know they are our brothers and sisters in society, and we want to help and encourage them to succeed.
WHAT ROBERT'S JOB MEANS TO HIS FAMILY AND COMMUNITY
As I stated before, my job is to make sure that the public is safe and help so that those that I supervise can succeed in society. Public employees like myself contribute to the economy, provide quality services for every Iowan, and are a part of our communities. Our ability to participate in those things will be severely hampered by reductions in personnel, wages, or benefits to my family.
My job is the vehicle I have used to proved a decent standard of living for my family. The job is definitley a means to help make the community a better place to live by helping the supervised engage in legal behavior. We are a critical department for community safety.
