Dear Friend,

Thank you for taking a moment to read this book, “AFSCME In Our Communities.” This book highlights just some of the many ways that AFSCME members are involved in their communities outside of work.

You probably know AFSCME members in your community. Our membership includes countless volunteer firefighters, Girl Scout leaders, Boy Scout/Cub Scout leaders, coaches, food drive volunteers, PTA volunteers, school board members, city council members, volunteers at your church or place of worship, and many other types of volunteers and community leaders.

AFSCME members are integral parts of our Iowa communities. At work, they help make our communities run by providing needed public services. Outside of work, they take the time to volunteer and further improve our communities.

Please enjoy, and if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call us at 515-246-1517.

Sincerely,

Danny Homan, President
AFSCME Iowa Council 61

Marcia Nichols, Legislative Director
