We Are Your Neighbors: Della Mull, Vinton, Local 1100 & 1212

I am married to Larry Mull, and we just celebrated our 36th wedding anniversary this past year. I was raised and grew up on a farm in Colorado, but have called Iowa home for many years. We have 3 biological children, all grown with families of their own. They have given us 8 lovely grandchildren, which we enjoy so much. We have been registered childcare providers since 1974, so needless to say, CHILDREN ARE OUR LIFE!!!

In addition, I am an elderly and adult advocate in our community and have been providing homecare support for several adults with special needs for the past 5 years. Several years ago, we saw an additional need in our area for foster parents, so we decided to extend our hearts and our home to even more children, by becoming foster care parents, for children with special needs. That has been our main mission for the past several years. Through that endeavor, we were very happy to have grown our family unit by an additional five children, with the permanent adoption of our next Mull generation, who are currently ages 8 to 13. So it goes without saying, that we continue to be, very busy, daily, with appointments, sports and games, extracurricular activities, guidance and support, and of course lots of homework. We can truly say, there is never a dull moment on our new farm in Benton County.

Because of my passion about children and their rights, in my spare time, I also serve as a Regional Chair and Union Steward for Childcare and Homecare, for the state of Iowa.  My plan is to raise our adopted children to be all that they can be and to continue to be a child advocate for children in my community for as long as I can provide that support.
